One of the shadow committees of the international ruling class, the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) brings together CEOs and heads of state yearly to build trade structures and agreements. Their actions occur within an assumed framework of continued capitalist development and without any input from representatives of the working class and marginalized or oppressed peoples. This year APEC is meeting in San Francisco November 11-18, and a large coalition of progressive organizations (including EBDSA and SFDSA) is planning to give them a robust reception.
This night school will provide an overview of APEC—what it is, who it is, and what it does to widen economic inequality and push the planet closer to climate catastrophe every day—and what the No to APEC coalition is planning to do in response. You are invited to learn about APEC and to join in the acts of resistance.
This meeting will be hybrid — in both the EBDSA office & Zoom. The EBDSA office is located at 641 17th St, Oakland, CA, 94612.
