Labor 101
Introduction
Since 2020, East Bay DSA has created and revised a curriculum, ‘Labor 101 for Socialists’, to introduce new members to the labor movement and the role of socialists in it. This study group, a four-part series that meets every other week for two hours, has been a great way to bring new members into the chapter Labor Committee, and many participants have become active in the chapter’s labor work as a result of taking the class. While the curriculum was written for new members without labor movement experience, the groups have also had participants who were in unions but wanted to think more about the role of socialists. It has been a welcoming environment as well for friends and contacts who are not DSA members. East Bay DSA is glad to share the curriculum below. For a longer discussion about 'Labor 101 for Socialists' and how it works, see the article by David de Leeuw in the “News” section of this website.
